By default, the Screen saver will be turned on after a particular time when your Android TV is inactive. On the screen saver page, both date and time appear to be fixed and pictures are presented in motion. As of now, you could be seeing either picture downloaded from the internet or colors some of which you might dislike. For some reason, you might have thought of customizing a collection of your pictures as your Android TV’s screen saver. Unfortunately, under the screen saver settings on your screen, there is no provision to change the screen saver. However, with the help of a third-party app, you can change the screen saver on your Android TV. Here is how;

Step 1: Download Any Screen Saver App

Open the Google Play Store app on your Android TV, navigate to the search bar and search for any preferred Screen Saver app. Download and install the Screen Saver app. As soon as the download is complete, open the app on your device and allow the app to access photos, media, and files on your TV device. Now you can access images from your device’s gallery or download pictures that you want to display on the screen saver page. After, navigate back to the home page of your Android device.

Step 2: Select Screen Saver App as the Screen Saver Source on your Android TV

According to your Android TV screen saver settings, you can either select “Backdrop” which automatically sets images for you from the internet, or select “colors” whereby different colors will be displayed as your screen saver. However, you could use a third-party app to customize particular images on your screen saver page by selecting the screen saver app that you downloaded earlier. Here is how;

1. Press the home button on your remote to launch your Android TV’s home page.

2. Navigate to the Settings App.

3. Now click on the “Device Preference” option under the general settings.

4. Under the Device preference menu, select “Screen Saver.”

5. Click on the Screen Saver option on the next menu.

6. Scroll down to and select the screen saver app that you downloaded earlier. Images from the selected app will display as the screen saver.

Quick Note: If you have not added images to your ‘screen saver‘ app and yet you selected it under screen saver settings, a black screen will be displayed until images are added.

Tips

When to Start: This setting enables the user to set the time at which the Screen Saver will be displayed. On my screen, I can set the screen saver time to display 5 minutes or 15 minutes, or 30 minutes or 1 hour or 2 hours of device inactivity.

Put Device to Sleep: Under this feature, you can set minutes to which the device will be put to sleep when inactive.

Start Now: If this feature is selected, the screen saver will be displayed immediately.
