Google’s Chromecast device makes it easy to watch YouTube videos on the large screen of your Home TV. This tutorial will guide you with the steps to follow in order to successfully cast YouTube content from your phone to your TV.

To cast YouTube content from your smartphone to your TV, you’ll need all of the following:

  • Smartphone (IOS and Android).
  • Active WiFi Connection (Both the TV and the Smartphone must be connected to the same WiFi network).
  • YouTube App on your device.
  • YouTube account (optional).
  • A smart TV with either built-in Chromecast support or a connected Chromecast device.

Cast Youtube from the phone to TV

1. First things first, turn on your TV and launch the home page.

2. Make sure both your TV and phone are connected to the same network.

3. Open the YouTube app. 

4. Tap on the Cast icon at the top bar of the YouTube home page.

5. On the next pop-up menu, select the device you want to connect to and wait for the connection to be made. If you do not know the Device name, go to Settings>Device Preferences>About.

6. Once the connection is established, your YouTube screen will be mirrored on your TV and the Cast icon will turn red.

7. Select the video you want to watch. Also, you can fast forward, pause, play, and stop content from playing using your YouTube control keys.

8. To adjust the volume on your phone, tap the cast icon drag the pointer to your right if you want to increase volume, and drag to your left if you want to decrease volume.

9. To disconnect your phone from the TV, tap the cast icon at the top bar then select “Disconnect” from the pop-up menu.

Quick Note: The YouTube casting will commence even when you close the YouTube app. To stop casting, you will need to disconnect casting within the app.
