The idea of streaming content on your mobile phone, screams convenience unlike on your Android TV. However, sometimes watching on a small screen gets boring and in order to extend the fun to your living room, you can decide to cast your Android phone to your Android TV. To cast from your Android phone to your Android TV, you’ll need all of the following:
- Android Smartphone.
- Active WiFi Connection (Both the TV and the Smartphone must be connected to the same WiFi network).
- A smart TV with either built-in Chromecast support or a connected Chromecast device.

Method 1: Cast all Content from your Phone
Step 1: Get started with your Android TV
Plug the TV cable into power and press the power button on your remote to turn on the TV. Now, head over to the home menu by pressing the home button on your remote, navigate to Settings then select Network & Internet. Enable WiFi connections and select your WiFi network from the list of available options. Navigate back to the home page.
Step 2: Get started with your Android phone
Go to the Settings app on your Android phone, select WiFi & internet, enable WiFi connection and select your WiFi network from the list of connections. The selected WiFi network should be similar to that you connected to on your Android TV. Now navigate back to your Android phone settings menu, select Bluetooth & Device Connection, then scroll to and select “Cast” from the device connection menu.
This will congregate all the list of devices that are in your general vicinity that you can cast to from your phone, select your device. The connection will be integrated within a few seconds and your phone screen will be mirrored to the selected display device.
Method 2: Cast Content from a particular app to your Android TV
1. Connect your Android device to the same WiFi network as your Android TV.
2. Open the app that has the content you want to cast.
3. Find the “Cast” icon in the app that you want to cast.
4. Next, select the device from the pop-up menu.
5. When the Cast icon changes color, you’re successfully connected.
Quick Note: In order to disable casting mode between the phone and TV, click on the Casting icon and select “Disconnect.”
I can not Cast my Phone to Android TV
There are two popular reasons why your phone would fail to cast content to your Android TV and they are explained below;
1. Ensure that both your phone and Android TV are connected to the same WiFi network.
2. Maybe the device that you are trying to connect to is not in casting mode. By default, Android TVs have the Chromecast enabled but this is unavailable for all Smart TVs, for some, you will need to enable casting manually. Go to Settings>Device Preference>Chrome Cast>Enable Chrome Cast.
