Here is how you can buy airtime from MTN mobile money using the shortcode (*165#) and My MTN app.
Use USSD ShortCode (*165#) to Buy Airtime From MTN Mobile Money
1. Dial *165# and press the send button.
2. Select option 2, Airtimes & Bundles.
3. Choose a number that corresponds to Airtime. As of now, that is option 1.
4. Select option 1, Buy for Self, or option 2 to Buy for Other.
5. If you have selected option 2, Buy for other, you will be prompted to enter the recipient’s MTN number.
6. Enter the amount.
7. Then review and confirm transaction details.
8. Enter the 5 digit MTN Mobile money pin.
Note: Alternatively, you can dial *165*2*1# and follow the prompts.

How to Buy Airtime From MTN Mobile Money via My MTN MoMo App
1. Download and install My MTN app on your device from Google Play Store for Andriod and App Store for IOS.
2. After successful download, launch the My MTN app.
3. Enter your MTN Mobile number then click on the ‘next’ button.
4. You will be prompted to key in the One Time Password (OTP) sent to the mobile money number that you entered at the previous step.
5. Next, key in your Mobile Money Pin.
6. Then also enter the One Time Password (OTP) sent to your phone one last time.
7. If all the login information is correct, the main menu will load.
8. Scroll down and click on Buy Airtime.
9. Tap on Self if you want to buy airtime for your number or Others if you want to buy airtime for another number. If you have chosen the “Others” option you will be prompted to enter the recipient’s number.
10. Enter a figure of how much airtime you want to buy then click on the top-up button.
11. The transaction details including the recipient’s number, phone number details, airtime figure will pop up on the screen. If all the information is correct, click on the complete button to proceed with the transaction.
12. You will get a confirmatory airtime top-up notification on your screen, click on ‘Done’ for the page to disappear.
