Bolt is a company from Estonia that is first; offering vehicles for hire. Secondly; micro-mobility. Thirdly; sharing of cars. And lastly; food delivery services.
Its headquarters are in Tallinn and is operating in over 300 cities in 45 countries in Europe, Africa, Western Asia, and Latin America. The company has 75 million customers globally and more than 1.5 million drivers use Bolt platform to offer rides.
This article is for those who use their car as a means of making money by driving people to their destinations as a way of making money. With bolt, users choose a location they are going to and order a ride. You would be the rider and get notified to pick them up.
The app calculates how much each user is paying you at the end of each trip. Importantly, there are many users using bolt, meaning you will be kept busy throughout the day.
Steps involved in becoming a Bolt Driver in Uganda:
By completing the following steps, you would be signing up to become a bolt driver in Kampala.
Firstly: Register online (this link takes you to the sign-up page) to begin the application process.
After clicking on the link, it takes you to the website where you will be providing some details about yourself.
You will be seeing the top page looking like this:
- On the page, you will first fill in your email address which will be your username.
- Afterwards, you will be typing in your phone number.
- Then provide the city you live in before pressing or tapping the green next button to follow the steps that proceed.
- Secondly, you will be providing more information and uploading some documents.
Provide all the required details asked for and upload whatever is required correctly through steps 1 to 5.
After successfully completing all the steps on the website, you will be moving on to the last phase.
The last phase is to attend training.
You wait for Bolt to invite you to their office for a training and activation session.
Become a bolt driver in Uganda by successfully completing all these tasks.

Additional information for Boda-boda drivers:
- Boda drivers will be invited for an additional first aid training
- Safety gear will be provided to you within a week of account activation.
It is worth noting that Bolt is usually accepting drivers who have their own vehicles.
