CRB collects data on loans issued by the lenders and creates credit reports of the borrowers based on their current and past loans. You can be issued a CRB clearance certificate in Kenya if you have never borrowed or if you have not defaulted on loan payments.
A CRB clearance certificate is a very important document especially if you had previously been blacklisted by CRB due to loan default. It is physical proof that you have cleared any overdue loans and it is also one of the requirements for any government jobs in Kenya.

Apply for CRB Clearance Certificate Online Kenya;
1. Via Trans Union
To apply for CRB clearance certificate using TransUnion Nipashe, simply follow the below steps:
- Download the Transunion Nipashe App from the play store.
- Launch and activate the App through the verification code sent via sms
- Click on the ‘Clearance Certificate’ Tab
- Enter your email address and click on ‘Submit’
- You will be required to pay Ksh 2200 to Mpesa paybill 212121 and enter ID number a the Account number
- You will be emailed the certificate. To open the certificate use the ID number you provided as the password.
- You can now download and print the certificate
2. Via Metropol
To apply for CRB clearance certificate using Metropol service, you need to register first with your Safaricom line
- Dial *433# on your phone
- Enter your ID Number
- Enter Agent Number, if you were referred by a Metropol Agent, if not enter zero (O) to proceed.
- Confirm your details as displayed on the screen in order to complete the registration session
- Pay Ksh 100 registration fees using paybill number 220388 and your ID Number as the Account Number.
- Metropol will send to you a Crystobol PIN via SMS and a link to your credit report
Once you have registered;
- Visit Metropol online portal website
- Sign in using your National ID and password
- Under the Quick Services Menu, Click on the Request tab for the CRB certificate
- You will be required to pay ksh 2200 to Mpesa pay bill 186644 and enter ‘your ID Number’ as the account number.
- Once the payment is done, the CRB Clearance certificate will be emailed to you.
3. Via Creditinfo
- Navigate/visit their website: ke.creditinfo.com
- Locate on clearance certificate under menu Individual solution
- On Personal Clearance Certificate Application, fill out the forms provided as required
- Select that ‘I’m not a robot’ verification captcha
- Click on submit
- You will receive your certificate which you will print.
