By default, your friends and people you follow will be able to see your Activity status. The Instagram activity status feature shows when the user was last active on the platform or if they are active in real time. This feature appears as a green dot next to a user’s profile picture, indicating that they are currently active on the app, or a timestamp indicating the last time they were active on the app. However much this feature is crucial in boosting user engagement, it is also something that might interfere with your privacy and distort your comfort on the popular social platform. Let us get started;
Step 1: Start the Instagram app on your device, and make sure you are signed in to your account whose activity status you want to hide.
Step 2: Tap on the Profile picture at the bottom right of the screen.
Step 3: Once you are on your profile, tap on the hamburger icon in the upper right corner of the screen then select Settings from the list of displayed options.
Step 4: Navigate to Privacy Settings and select Activity Status.
Step 5: On the Activity Status page:
- Show Activity Status- Disabling this feature will stop people who message from seeing when you were last active or when you are currently active on the Instagram app.
- Show When You’re Active Together- Disabling this feature will stop accounts you follow and anyone you message from seeing the activity status when you are chatting together.
Quick Note: Once you have turned off your activity status, Instagram will ask you to confirm your choice. Tap on ‘Turn Off’ to save the changes.

Step 6: Tap on the back button, to go back to the home page. The changes will be saved automatically.
That’s it! You have successfully hidden your activity status on Instagram. Now, when you are active on the Instagram app, your friends, followers, and people you follow will not be able to see it.
