On 19th August 2022, Make-IT in Africa, a GIZ project committed to facilitating access to finance, skills and markets for African start-ups, together with GIZ Business Scouts for Development launched the Investment Guide Uganda, a publication that aims at giving entrepreneurs a manual guide on how to successfully raise funds and get investment in Uganda.

The CEO of Starthub Africa the event implementing partner, Matthias Möbius says the event was organized primarily to commission the Investment Guide, merge startups with investors, and to also gather information on what is happening in the investment eco-system.

“This event was organized by GIZ and two projects they have one of which is based in Uganda called Business Scouts for Development Network and they commissioned the Investment Guide for Investment landscape in Uganda to gather information for what is happening in the Investor’s ecosystem.”

William Babigumira, the author of the investor’s guide says the guide will help entrepreneurs envision how to do business by entertaining the problems these entrepreneurs go through.

“It is exciting to see that entrepreneurs have a manual to envision how exactly to do business and I thought about the primary struggles that entrepreneurs go through not only in Africa but most specifically in Uganda. When you are trying to make sense of the business world, what are potholes, requirements, how do I make money, who do I owe money to, and how can I raise money? The structure of the guide is pretty much anything to do with the investors, investing environment, raising capital, understanding the basics of financing instruments (debt, equity, grant).”

The investment Guide Uganda now joins the several other country-specific guides already created for Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, Ghana, Ethiopia, and the Ivory Coast respectively.
