How to Fix Two-Finger Scrolling in Windows 10
There are multiple methods that can help you enable the two-finger scrolling feature in Windows 10. First, you can choose to enable the feature using Mouse properties or by updating the touchpad driver or activating it from the Settings app. Whichever method you choose to use, it will get the work done.
Method 1 – Enable the Feature in mouse properties
1. Press Windows + R on your keyboard and the Run utility will show up.
2. Type “main.cpl” and hit OK. This will unravel mouse properties.
3. Choose the touchpad tab and click settings to open the properties window.
4. Expand the “multi-finger gestures” section and make sure that the box next to “scroll with two fingers” is checked.
5. Click Apply and then OK to close the window.
6. You may need to restart your device to see any changes.
Method 2 – Update the Touchpad Driver
Drivers are the foundation of your entire Windows system. The touchpad has a driver that assists with its functionality. When this driver is damaged or outdated, issues might errupt, and affect the two-finger scrolling feature. In order to fix the two-finger scroll not working in Windows 10, you need to update your touchpad drivers.
1. Press Windows + R simultaneously.
2. Type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.
3. In the new window, expand the “Mice and other pointing devices”
4. Tight-click the touchpad and choose to update the driver. Follow the instructions and restart. See if your issue is solved.
Method 3 – Activate from the Settings App
1. Navigate to Settings > Devices > Touchpad from the left side of the page.
2. In the scroll and zoom section, ensure that the “slide two fingers to scroll” checkbox is selected. If you want to change the default scroll direction, choose an option from the drop-down box located just below the option. Once you are done with the selection, restart your computer and check if your issue has been solved.
Quick Note: If the option is unavailable it could be because your PC is not equipped with a precision touchpad.
