Similar to WhatsApp’s disappearing messages, Telegram offers auto-delete for each chat for all its subscribers. Telegram’s auto-delete feature automatically deletes messages after a certain period of time. While there is a provision for users to manually delete messages, auto-delete seems to be the perfect option if you looking to strengthen privacy, organize chats and downsize on space. Here’s how to enable auto-delete for your Telegram chats:
Step 1: Start the Telegram app on your device and go to the chat that you want to enable auto delete.
Step 2: Launch the chat’s profile by tapping on the chat name at the top of the screen. A menu will appear.
Step 3: From the displayed menu, tap on “More.”
Step 4: Now go ahead and scroll down then tap on “Auto-Delete.”
Step 5: Select the duration for which you want the messages to be deleted after. Telegram offers options for 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days/1 month. You can also personalize your auto-delete timer by selecting “Other” followed by choosing the number of days that are perfect for you.
Step 6: To confirm the just set up auto-delete setting, tap on “Save.” Congratulations! You have set auto-delete for that chat. Go ahead and follow the same steps (listed above) for all the other chats whose messages you want to delete automatically.
Quick Note: Once auto-delete is enabled, messages in that chat will be deleted automatically after the selected time period. Remember that auto-delete will only apply to messages sent after the feature is enabled so that it won’t delete any previous messages in the chat. You will have to delete the previous messages manually.
