Disable Hibernation on Windows 10 with Simple Steps

Method 1: Using Command Prompt (Recommended for More Space)

Press the Windows key and the letter “X” on your keyboard together, and then choose “Command Prompt (Admin).”

Click “Yes” when it asks for permission.

In the Command Prompt, type “powercfg -h off” and press Enter.

That’s it! Hibernation is now off, and you’ll have more space on your computer.

If you want to turn on hibernation again later, just type “powercfg.exe /hibernate on” in the Command Prompt.

Method 2: Using Power Options (Hibernation is off, but the special file stays)

Right-click the Windows icon in the bottom left corner, and then choose “Power Options.”

Click on “Choose what the power buttons do.”

Click “Change settings that are currently unavailable.”

Uncheck “Hibernate” under “Shutdown settings.”

Click “Save changes.”

To make sure hibernation is really off, go to “Change plan settings” next to your power plan, and set both “On battery” and “Plugged in” options to “Never” under “Hibernate after.”
