Since Wave mobile money launched into the Ugandan market last year, it has created a new cashless QR code scanning digital solution that is slowly trampling the interest of Ugandans. Wave enables users to deposit money, buy airtime, pay bills, send and withdraw money from their Wave mobile money account.
Upon registration, a customer will receive a special unique QR code for their account. If you opened the account via the app, you will see the QR code on your home page. If you opened your account via the Wave agent’s premises, you will be availed of a Wave QR card. Unlike other mobile money systems that will require you to share your mobile money number, with Wave mobile money you will use the QR code on your app or on your QR card to successfully deposit money into your Wave mobile money account.

Use Wave App to Deposit Money on your Wave Mobile Money Account
This method will require you to have the Wave app on your device. Follow the steps listed below to learn how the money will be deposited into your Wave account.
Step: Visit the Nearest Wave Mobile Money Agent
- Go to the nearest Wave mobile money agent in your area. Click here to view Wave agent locations in your area or call Wave toll free on 0800303064.
- Request the Wave agent to deposit money on your account.
- Hand in the cash equivalent to the money you want to be deposited into your account.
Step 2: Check in to your Wave App
- Start the Wave app on your device.
- Enter the 4 digit Wave mobile money pin.
Step 3: QR Code Scanning
- In order to initiate a deposit transaction, the Wave agent will need to scan your QR code. Pass the phone to the agent to enable scanning.
- The agent will transfer money from their account to your Wave mobile money account instantly.
- Receive your phone from the Wave agent and confirm transaction by checking balance before you leave the agent’s premises.
Use QR Card to Deposit Money on your Wave Mobile Money Account
If you have a Wave QR card, you need to show up with it at the Agent’s premises to enable scanning. Here is how the money will be deposited into your account;

- After you have successfully located the agent’s premisese, request the Wave agent to deposit money on your account.
- Hand in the cash equivalent to the money you want to be deposited into your account.
Step 2: QR Code Scanning
- In order to initiate a deposit transaction, the Wave agent will need to scan your QR code on your QR card. Therefore, give your QR card to the Wave Agent for scanning purposes.
- The agent will transfer money from their account to your Wave mobile money account instantly.
- With QR card transactions, users will need to confirm transaction from the Agents’ phone or request the agent to help you check balance or veiw the confirmatory message sent to your phone.
Alternatively, money can be deposited into your account from a friend’s account. Here is how you can send money from your Wave account to another Wave account via the app. You will be charged 1% of the deposit for the transaction.
