Ooh Yes, you can now create and personalize your own avatar on Facebook.
Avatars are virtual representations of users on Facebook that can be used in place of profile pictures, cover photos, messenger, and comment sections. They allow users to express themselves and their personalities in a fun and creative way. If you dislike adding your own image to your profile, your avatar representation can fill in the gaps.
With Facebook avatars, you get to select the avatar’s skin tone, hairstyle, hair color, face shape, eye shape, eye color, add eyewear, choose the shape of your lips, lips color, body shape, avatar’s outfit, pose, and so much more.
Creating an avatar on Facebook is easy and only takes a few minutes. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Start your Facebook app or the web version. Whichever platform you prefer.
Step 2: Log into your Facebook account by entering your username and password.
Step 3: Once you are logged in successfully, you will be referred to the home page. At the bottom of that home page, you will see navigation options. Tap on the Menu option or on your profile picture.
Step 4: Select your profile.
Step 5: Tap on either your profile picture or your cover photo picture.
Step 6: Select Create Avatar Profile Picture or Avatar Cover Photo.

Step 7: Now get started with editing your Facebook Avatar.
- Get started by choosing the skin tone of your avatar and tapping the Next button.
- Choose Avatar’s hairstyle. On the hairstyle option, you get to choose the color of your hair by clicking on the color palette icon just next to Hairstyle.
- Now slide to the next section and choose your face shape from the provided options.
- Next is the eye shape. Under this section, you can choose the color of your eye color and your preferred eye make-up option.
- Now choose your eyebrows, eyebrow color, and bindi if you wish.
- Interested in eyewear? There is that option for you as well.
- Select Nose shape and Nose accessories.
- Add the shape of your lips and your preferred lipstick color.
- Select the body for your Avatar.
- Choose your Avatar’s outfit.
- Add headwear if you wish.
- Add ear piercings and hearing devices if you wish.
Step 8: Suppose you are satisfied with the outcome of your Avatar. Tap on the Done option in the upper right corner of your screen then proceed to save the changes.
Step 9: You will get a notification that your avatar is being updated. This might take a few minutes to load. Once loading is complete, tap on the Next button.
Step 10: On the next page, click Done.
Step 11: Set up your avatar’s pose and also select the background of your avatar.
Step 12: Click save to save these changes. You have now set that selected avatar as your profile picture or your cover photo.
You can remove or change your avatar at any time by simply tapping on the profile picture followed by the edit button, now select a picture or new avatar.
