With the trend of virtual assistants on the rise, the way we do things is now simplified. You can say anything and the Google Assistant will instantly transcribe what you are saying and add it to your notes. In simple terms, Google Assistant can take notes for you. Google Assistant allows you to create notes on your default “Note” apps by simply saying what you want to note to the Google Assistant. If you are in between schedules, say “Hey Google, take a note,” and the notes will be taken.

Step 1: Set a Default Note Service

First things first, you need to set a default app in which you would like Google Assistant to connect and save/keep all your notes. The notes app that you intend to use should work simultaneously with Google Assistant. Some of the popular apps that work with Google Assistant are; Google Keep, Microsoft One Note, Note Plan, Drafts, etc.. Here is how;

1. Start the Google Assistant app on your device.

2. Tap on your profile image or initially found at the top right corner.

4. Click a service to set it as your default. In this guide, I choose the Google Keep app. Google Keep is Google’s note-taking app like One Note.

5. To confirm, tap Continue.

Quick Note: All new notes created with your Google Assistant will be available on your selected default note service however, notes created before this adjustment won’t be available on that service. If you choose a third-party provider app as your default, that provider’s app’s privacy policy applies. Be reminded that at any one time, you can still change the default app on Google Assistant.

Step 2: Create a note with Google Assistant

Now that you have successfully set your preferred Notes app as a default app for Google Assistant, you are good to start making notes. All you have to do is;

1. Say “Hey Google” or tap and hold the Home button to talk to your Assistant.

2. Say a command. For example: “Hey Google, Take a note.” The Assistant will ask you to say what you want to say. Speak up as Google records and types notes on your behalf. If you pause, the Assistant will assume that you are done and it will automatically save your notes to your default app.
