How to Apply Online for a Certificate of Good Conduct in Uganda

On the 17th of May 2021, the Uganda Police Force launched the online application provision for the certificate of good conduct and police clearance. This was done to reduce overcrowding at the Directorate of INTERPOL and International Relations, reduce time spent in the process of acquiring the certificates of good conduct, and also help applicants to track and know the status of their applications. This article guides you on how you can apply online to acquire a certificate of good conduct in Uganda.

How to Apply Online for a Certificate of Good Conduct in Uganda

The step-by-step guide listed below will help you obtain the Certificate of Good Conduct and Police Clearance form.

1. Open your browser and search for service.upf.go.ug/certificates. (This is the official link for acquiring a certificate of good conduct and police clearance on the Uganda police website).

2. Click on Register Here then Accept the terms and conditions by checking all the available boxes.

3. If you are a new applicant, you will need to register an account with UPF to proceed with the application process. Enter all the required details including your name, email address, date of birth, gender, and preferred password. Click on Register. Head over to your email and click on a link, to activate your account.

4. After activating your account, log into your account with your email address and password that you created earlier.

5. Click on the New Application button.

6. Start filling in the application form. Enter personal data like name, title, citizenship, NIN, passport number, and height as prompted.

7. On the Payment Details page, select service type as Certificate of Good Conduct, then choose payment method, you can pay using mobile money, cheque, VISA, or Mastercard. Pay UGX76,000 for the certificate of good conduct and UGX23,000 for the police clearance. If you want to acquire both certificates then you will need to pay UGX 99,000. (If you fail to pay within two working days, your application will be canceled.)

Remember to choose the enrollment center (Naguru Biometric Center or Interpol Kololo Center).

8. Tap on Apply for this Service after completing payment.

Once you have applied for the certificate, sign in to your account again then book and confirm a Fingerprint capture appointment at the Interpol office. Do not forget to print out your payment receipts and application preview pages. Appear at your scheduled appointment with; two passport-size photos, two copies of your National ID or Passport, a copy of application preview, and a receipt printed from the system.

Note: The Certificate of Good Conduct or Police Clearance is valid for only six (6) months from the date of issuance.
