How to get Borrow Airtime on Safaricom (Okoa Jahazi)

Okoa Jahazi service allows Safaricom Prepay subscribers to borrow airtime and data bundles then pay later. So, if you are low on airtime, follow the methods below to get airtime then pay later. However, you will be charged a 10% service fee of the amount you have borrowed. This article guides on how to borrow airtime on Safaricom, Okoa Jahazi.

To access Okoa Jahazi you need to have the following requirements;

(a) Be a Safaricom PrePay subscriber.

(b) The amount requested must be equivalent to your airtime spent for the last seven (7) days prior to the date of the request for the Credit Advance. For clarity a week runs from Monday 0000hrs to Sunday 2359 hours.

(c) Have a balance of less than Ksh 2/- in your account.

(d) Have an active line meaning your line has not gone into expiry due to a failure to top up over a period of 180 days.

Borrow Airtime on Safaricom

Method 1:

1. Open phone app.
2. Dial *131# and press ok using Safaricom line.
3. Select a number that corresponds with the amount of airtime you want to borrow and press send.
4. If you want data, select option 6 Okoa bundles, then choose data plan and press send.
5. You will get a message confirming that you have Okoa Jahazi airtime or data.

Method 2:

1. Launch phone app.
2. Dial *100# and press the call button.
3. Select option 3, Products and Services.
4. Opt for option 3, Okoa Jahazi and follow the prompts.

How to Check Okoa Jahazi Balance

1. Launch dialer
2. The dial *144# and press the call button.
3. Alternatively, you can send “Balance” to 144.
4. You’ll receive a text message with all the details.
