The agents offer cash deposits, cash withdrawals, balance inquiries, account opening, school fees payment, utility payments, and loan applications. Absa agents are awarded commissions based on the transactions. Here is how you can become an Absa bank agent in Uganda.

Requirements for Absa Bank Agents

This section contains the relevant requirements to become an Absa bank agent in Uganda. Note that to become an agent, your business should be registered and licensed as either sole proprietor, limited company, or any category as specified by the central bank as fit for the agent banking business.

A) Sole proprietorship.

1. Certificate of registration

2. Statement of particulars

3. Valid trading Licence with evidence of having been in business for at least 12 months.

4. TIN certificate

5. National ID

6. Passport photo

7. LC 1 letter.

8. Agent float- 6,000,000 after agent banking approval by the central bank (Bank of Uganda).

B) Limited Company.

1. Certificate of incorporation

2. Articles and Memorandum of association

3. Company form 7 / 20.

4. Board resolution to open the account.

5. National IDs for directors and secretaries.

6. TIN certificate

7. Valid trading Licence

8. Passport photos for directors and secretaries.

9. LC 1 letter.

10. Company search fee of 70,000

11. Agent float of 6,000,000

12. Company Letterhead.

13. If a company is above 3 years, it should provide the latest annual returns.

How to Become an Absa Bank Agent

1. Visit any Absa branch near you. Click here.

2. Go to the Customer Care desk or branch manager and share your Agent request.

3. The bank official will then give you an agent application form to fill in and also a checklist guide you need to go through the application process.

4. Upon filling in your application and attaching the relevant documents as required. The agent application will be submitted for vetting and approval.

Who is Eligible to become an Absa Bank Agent

An Absa bank agent can be any person with a registered business from a mobile money agent, petrol station, supermarket or grocery store, pharmacy, hardware store, or retail shop that has been in existence for at least 12 months. Please Note that Absa agent banking shouldn’t be your primary business. To become an Absa bank agent you should have a business bank account with Absa bank and a physical address for a place you want to set up your agent banking business.
