1. Alter Display Settings:

Choosing to change some of your PC’s display settings will save you some battery. Display settings like screen brightness, active display, screen refresh rate, and graphics motions consume a lot of battery. Here is how you can customise display settings to save battery;

  • Go to Settings and click on System.
  • Scroll to and select Display.
  • Click on Brightness.
  • Clear the Change brightness automatically when lighting changes or the Help improve battery by optimizing the content shown and brightness check box (if either appears), and then use the slider to set the brightness level you want.

Reduce the Screen Refresh Rate:

A higher refresh rate will provide smoother motion on your display, but it also uses more power. If you want to lower the screen refresh rate, select Start  > Settings  > System  > Display  > Advanced display . For Choose a refresh rate, select a lower rate.

Choose Custom Graphics Options for an app

  • Go to Settings  followed by System.  
  • Click Display  > Graphics.
  • Under Custom options for apps, select an app, select Options, then choose Power saving.

2. Enable Battery Saver Mode:

Both Windows 11 and Windows 10 come with a built-in Battery Saver mode that reduces the amount of power your device uses. Every time you feel like your battery levels have dropped, enable Battery saver mode on your PC that runs Windows 11 or Windows 10 by;

1. Clicking on the Battery icon displayed in the bottom right corner of the menu bar.

2. Tap on Battery Saver to enable it.

3. Battery Saver mode will be enabled immediately. The display light is likely to dim at this point.

3. Disable Unnecessary Background Apps:

Some apps run in the background and consume a significant amount of battery power. You can control which apps run in the background by going to Settings > Privacy > Background Apps. From there, you can turn off background app usage for specific apps.

4. Adjust Power and Sleep Settings:

The power and sleep settings of your device can also have an impact on battery life. You can adjust these settings by going to Settings > System > Power & battery  > Screen and sleep. For On battery power, turn off my screen after, pick duration. To save battery life, set the display to turn off after a short time and the device to sleep after a longer time.

5. Restart your PC

6. Fully Charge your PC
