Using a Laptop on your laps

They may be called “lap” tops, but contrary to their name, these personal computers are not supposed to be used directly on your laps. It’s necessary to allow their bottom to have direct access to air, otherwise, your gadget can overheat and stop operating. Therefore, it is better to use your laptop on a solid flat surface to ease ventilation.

Leaving your gadgets in extremely cold or hot environments

Avoid leaving your computer or mobile phone in extreme temperatures so as to reduce the risk of malfunction or explosion. If you leave an electronic device in the cold for a long time, it will cause both damages to the battery and to the display.

Carrying your laptop by its display or lid

It’s not advisable to carry your laptop by its display, because the constant pressure of being picked up this way gets its matrix damaged, and fixing it is not cheap. Handle your device from its back and you will actually save a buck.

Taking your phone to the washrooms

They are called mobile phones because they can be taken anywhere, but they are not yet intelligent enough to avoid falling into the bathroom water or toilet sink (unless they are waterproof – IP Certified).

It isn’t wise to carry your mobile phone when you go for a shower, long or short calls. The device can easily slip from you, get damaged, or crack its screen. Yes, you can retrieve it, however, it’s most likely to have a major malfunction or incapability to perform as it did before.

Taking meals/drinks near your laptop

However accurate you think you are, you will never be sure what gets into your laptop’s interface and keyboard as you enjoy your meal. Worse, you could spill liquids into your device which could mean the worst consequence for your gadget. Crumbs from your morning Wrap or Rolex will surely get onto your laptop’s keyboard and get stuck in the gaps between the keys.

Holding your gadgets with oily or greasy hands

Before touching your electronic device, make sure that your hands are clean in order to avoid the fast aging of your machine. Using dirty hands to operate a phone or laptop will be both uncomfortable and inconvenient. Worse of all, it might slide out your hands and hit the ground.

Using water to clean your laptop or phone

You should NEVER use water or any wet material to clean your electronic device because this can cause malfunction and electric shock.

Instead, it’s recommendable that you use a tissue something else tailored for cleaning electronics like a blower or an electronic spray for devices.
