How to Apply for a Certified Copy of a Business Registration Certificate

Registration of a company in Kenya was once a difficult and complicated process. Fortunately, in recent years, the Kenyan Government has stepped in and streamlined the registration process whether you’re a Kenyan citizen or a foreign business owner looking to open your business in Kenya, the process can take the better part of a month. You can now apply for a Certified Copy of the Business Registration Certificate online in case you have lost your original certificate or you need a certified copy.

Documents required when applying for a certified copy of the Business Registration Certificate:

  • An eCitizen account
  • Name of the business registration
  • A request letter
  • Your business registration number.

How to Get a Certified Copy of the Company Registration

  1. Log in to your e-Citizen account.
  2. Click on the Business Registration icon.
  3. Click on Make Application.
  4. On the new page that opens, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select manual service.
  5. Click on Manual Application.
  6. On the process type, select Certified Copy.
  7. Indicate the Company type which can either be a limited liability partnership, private and public companies, a company limited by guarantee, a foreign company, or a business name registration.
  8. Enter the Registration Name and Number then click Next.
  9. Upload the Request Letter and Click Complete.

Quick Note: After the above stage, your application will go through the verification stage, once it has been verified you will be provided with the payment invoice. The fee to get a Certified Copy of your business registration certificate is Ksh. 250. The payment options available are Mpesa, Debit/Credit, Prepaid Card, Airtel Money, and E-Agent. After your payment has been approved, print the payment invoice and present it at the collection desk and collect your Certified copy from the Registrar’s office.
