As the digital space takes shape, tech creatives are working day and night. Talking about the digital space, Instagram has been in business for nearly 9 years and is part of the platforms bringing new changes. Numerous tests/updates have been done recently like;

  • Following list of categories. These listings automatically categorize your following into topics like fashion, art, etc.
  • New story sticker updates
  • IGTV series.
  • Stories Camera Update, etc

To adjust to the Snappy world and changing customer needs, Instagram has heard our cry and launched a new application called Threads.

Instagram had this to say;

“Over the last few years, we’ve introduced several new ways to share visually on Instagram and connect with people you care about – from sharing everyday moments on Stories to visual messages on Direct. But for your smaller circle of friends, we saw the need to stay more connected throughout the day, so you can communicate what you’re doing and how you’re feeling through photos and videos. That’s why we built Threads, a new way to message with close friends in a dedicated, private space.”

This purplish-black and white-eyed app brings a new feel of SnapChat and Messenger in one UI. Expect no filters and enjoy the customizable shortcuts to your closest buddies.

How to Use the Threads App

The Facebook-owned app gives you a choice to create and also send stories to your favorite Instagram close friends. This is possible with just a simple tap at the top left sidebar icon that flashes a list of settings. In case you want to send a message to two or more of your buddies, follow the details below.

Sending messages

  • Put their profile picture right on the bottom of the camera screen.
  • Take your picture, tap their photo, and swipe up to send. Sending and sharing is at the instant.

Creating a status

  • Pick an emoji and type out a few words or choose from among the many pre-populated statuses that Instagram has created.
  • Choose the time lag of your status visibility from 1-4 hours

Phones supported by the Threads App

The app also has amazing themes to try out and the User Interface is one of the most recommended. The failure to download the app on my iPhone5 could be one of the hindrances if you are an iPhone user running iOS below 11 or an iPhone5 or less version.

However, Android users should be the most excited as the app comes in handy for most smart devices. You can get the Threads App on your iPhone or Android phone.

Privacy concerns

This is the latest from the Face App that nearly caught many people unaware. Your privacy matters.

The Threads App requests your location, movement, battery level, and network connection from your phone to determine what content to share. Before the agreement, Threads’ Auto Status requests your permission.

The app does not share your location details with friends but might capture you running and updating the status of a jog. The privacy assurance is that the information is only stored on your device for a limited time and is deleted upon uninstallation of the app.

Waiting to hear about bugs

Ohh yea, like any other app, expect bugs but also fixes (I mean we are talking about Instagram, not your local app)

Conclusion;

With these modifications and bug fixes that continue to come in every week, am sure a download of this App will get you closer to your friends and families. It is a bargain, but I highly recommend it for now.
