#1. Tidal
It has a great vibe of hip-hop, RnB, and urban music for all listeners- mass-market music listeners or average listeners.
Tidal gives you exclusive access to great content like live concerts, curated playlists, with the inclusiveness of artists. They also try to bridge the gap between artists and listeners in a way that you can get to know your artist well.
The app has the best quality of music, they do a fair amount of compression on their music which keeps it at high quality.
To get your music on this platform, you pay. However, MTN Uganda partnered with Tidal where you get a FREE 30-day trial, and can subscribe for as low as UGX 600.

#2. Deezer
Deezer gives its listeners a range of experiences as it is constantly delivering new features.
The app has a music catalog with over 60 million songs. Deezer enables you to download music for listening offline, for its premium version. You can also use Deezer for FREE, however, music is shuffled automatically and you cannot download it for offline listening.
It has a free 30 days trial and the premium trial.
Deezer also has a Labs option which you can turn on in settings. This feature enables you to try out new settings/features that Deezer hasn’t yet released publicly for testing on the market.
To get your music on this platform, you have to pay. The monthly Deezer premium costs approximately $5 (UGX 18,600) or monthly Deezer family plan (6 accounts) for $7.5 (27,900).
The Deezer music streaming app has a huge diversity of music since it’s available in over 200 countries, including Uganda.

Howwe Biz is one of the biggest music websites in Uganda.
You can listen to your favorite Ugandan music on the Howwe Biz Music app on Play Store. The App Store app for Howwe Biz is not yet available, however, we’ll update the blog in case it’s launched.

#4. Mdundo
Well known for its slogan that hits the ears before your song gets through the wires, “Get free Music on mdundo.com”
Enjoy free high-quality music on the mdundo app on APKpure, this is for Android users. Listen to your favorite East African artists, the app gives you access to over 40K+ songs
The free music downloads on the Mdundo music streaming app are of a lower quality.
#5. BoomPlay
BoomPlay has a huge catalog of music that includes mostly African music. Discover the music from all parts of the world on the boom play app.
This app also has its music lyrics set up. You can highlight the lyrics as you sing along.
On Boomplay, there’s a feature that can enable you to comment on a song Boomplay has over 10 million records. It gravitates more towards African music.
You can get a free version or a paid version of Boomplay. Basic features are free with advertisements or limitations, while additional features, such as download for offline play and ad-free listening are offered via paid subscriptions.
The paid version of BoomPlay charges $1.5 (UGX 5,600) a month

BoomPlay has access to celebrity news and music news within the app. You can read as you listen.
#6. Soundcloud
Soundcloud is another free music streaming platform you can enjoy in Uganda. You can upload music for free, as a creator. This makes the app have a big music catalog. More people are constantly uploading music for free.
Soundcloud welcomes you if you are a listener of independent music, for instance, if you like to listen to music made by artists who have few followers. If you’re a musician who makes music out of your room, Soundcloud is a great free space to share.

#7. Apple Music
The apple music app was made primarily for the Apple fraternity, available on App Store for iPhone, Mac Book, iPad, and Apple Watch.
The app offers big music from the iTunes catalog, and it’s in sync with your iCloud. Android users can also use Apple music via the Apple Music app on Google Play Store.
It’s more of a platform for listeners who already know what they like, as you don’t normally come across recommendations, say weekly, for you to discover new music.
The Apple Music catalog is one that’s always organized and you can easily manage your music preferences.
Apple Music also has a free trial and a premium version. The Free Apple music trial is 3 months, after which, you pay for using the application. Apple Music users get exclusive releases, for those who are interested in that side of life.
#8. YouTube Music
You might want to use a VPN for this app in Uganda.
It offers the ability to upload music, as a creator, for free even in video format.
If you sign up for a Youtube Music account, you can choose your favorite artists and you’ll get recommendations of high-quality music following your choice.
YouTube Music also gives you the Trending Button that you can click on to get trending music.
You can also choose albums and playlists to listen to during your free time.
This music streaming app has a big music catalog because it has more people uploading music.
Youtube Music is in sync with your google accounts since it’s owned by Google, which gives it the ability to leverage all your data under the Google umbrella. It’s secure like that.
The YouTube music streaming app is available on Google Play store and Apple store.
This app’s recommendations will be in line with what you’ve searched on Google and YouTube. This is because they already have a history on your profile through google.

Spotify has great music discovery features. It has a strong underlying underneath its platform that recommends new music based on what your interests are.
Unfortunately, Spotify is not available in Uganda. However, you can use it with the help of a VPN. You find a list of VPNs we recommend.
Update: Spotify is now available in Uganda
If you listen to music on Spotify over time, the app will be able to recommend music for you according to your interest. You can follow artists and listen to their music.
It has a free version and a Premium plan. You can download Spotify on Android and iPhone too.
The free version has ads that you may have to listen to.
You pay to get your music on this platform if you’re a creator.
