How to Get Airtel Quick Loans in Uganda

A quick loan is a service by Airtel Money and Housing Finance Bank, which enables customers to complete their transactions when they have insufficient funds in their account. Customers who opt-in to the service will be able to request a loan when they are sending money, making merchant and pay bill payments and when buying bundles and airtime using an Airtel Money account. Customers are able to take multiple loans up to their credit limit.

Who Qualifies for the Airtel Quick Loan?

  1. Active Airtel Money customers starting from six months and above.
  2. Must have had at least one Airtel Money transaction every month for the past six months.
  3. Customers who have paid up any other loans taken through Airtel Money.

Charges and Tariffs of the Quick Loan

Quick Loan subscribers will be charged a 2% application fee and 1% on the outstanding amount to be charged every day for 15 days. Repay early to save on the daily interest charged.

How to Register for Airtel Quick Loans

  1. Dial *185# and press the Send button.
  2. Select option 7, Financial Services.
  3. Choose option 10, Loans. Alternatively, you can press *185*7*10# then follow through with the next step.
  4. Then select option 1, Quick Loan.
  5. Enter your Airtel Money pin.
  6. Choose the “Opt-in” option.
  7. Accept the Terms and Conditions.

How to Get Airtel Quick Loan?

You can use the Quick loan to send money, pay merchants, pay bills or buy airtime and data.

  • To send money dial *185#, select option 1(Send Money), and follow the prompts.
  • To buy airtime or data, dial *185#, select option 2 (Airtime & Bundles) then follow the prompts.
  • To pay Bills, dial *185#, select the “Pay Bill” option then follow the prompts.

Note: You can only get the Airtel Quick loan when you try to send money, pay bills, buy airtime with an insufficient balance, a pop-up to take a loan will appear, enter the amount ranging in your Quick loan limit then proceed to confirm the transaction.

How to Check Airtel Quick Loan Limit

  1. Dial *185# and press OK.
  2. Select option 7, Financial Services.
  3. Choose Loans then select Quick Loans.
  4. Enter your Airtel Money pin.
  5. Select Check limit option.
  6. Your Quick loan limit will appear on the screen.

How to Repay your Airtel Quick Loan

  1. Dial *185# and press the send button.
  2. Select option 7, ‘Financial Services.
  3. Choose option 10, ‘Loans’.
  4. Then choose option 1, ‘Quick Loans’.
  5. Enter your Airtel Money PIN.
  6. Select the option ‘Repay Loan’ and follow the prompts.

How to View Quick Loan Mini Statement

  1. Dial *185# and press the send button.
  2. Select option 7, ‘Financial Services.
  3. Choose option 10, ‘Loans’.
  4. Then choose option 1, ‘Quick Loans’.
  5. Enter your Airtel Money PIN.
  6. Select the option ‘Mini Statement’ and your Quick Loans Mini Statement will appear on the screen.

How to Opt-Out of Quick Loans

  1. Dial *185# and press the send button.
  2. Select option 7, ‘Financial Services.
  3. Choose option 10, ‘Loans’.
  4. Then choose option 1, ‘Quick Loans’.
  5. Enter your Airtel Money PIN.
  6. Select the option ‘Opt Out’ and then Confirm.

Key Notes

  1. The Quick loan duration is 15 days. You can continue to use Quick during this time. However, you will need to pay the full loan amount 15 days after you took your initial loan.
  2. To increase the amount you qualify for, you will need to repay your Quick loan on time and also increase your transactions on Airtel Money.
  3. There are no late fees charged. However, you will not be able to take another loan until you pay up what is due.
  4. Money will be deducted off your account just like the WeWole days.
