Are you a startup working on projects that promote the development of sustainable cities in Africa. Then this challenge is a good fit for you to win grants, mentorship, and partnerships.

The applications for the 2019 AFD Digital Africa Challenge are open now and being received by The Agence Française de Développement (AFD).

AFD Digital Africa Challenge aligns with the United Nations 11th Sustainable Development Goal – ‘the creation of sustainable cities and commodities’. It supports startups by giving them access to resources, businesses and an opportunity to collaborate with the European innovation ecosystem.

The AFD Digital challenge is divided into the following categories

  • The development of digital services that stimulate local economic development
  • The use of digital technology to improve urban planning for the most vulnerable
  • The development of digital tools that focus on the creation of quality urban services
  • The use of digital technology to improve the relationship between citizens and local authorities.

At the finishing of the application, 10 winners will be selected to receive €20,000, access to a tailor-made support ‘Acceleration Pack’ program and international visibility. The deadline for submission is the 18th of November 2019. Interested startups can apply here.
