  • If you follow Option 1, click on Add printer as indicated below.
  • The computer shall search for the available printers (as you can see below) and in case your printer is on the network, it shall be displayed.
  • In case the printer is not on the network or is not being detected; it shall be indicated for you as you can see below No devices found

This is the point where Option 1 meets Option 2, both simple and easy steps.

  • When you click on the option “The printer I want isn’t listed”, both options shall lead you to this interface.
  • The options which shall be given to you for why the printer you want isn’t listed are as below.

From these, you can:

  • Select a shared printer by name
  • Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname
  • Add a Bluetooth, wireless or network discoverable printer
  • Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.

If your printer is a little older, there is an option for that at the top.

  • Since for us we are adding printer by TCP/IP address, we select option 3, and click next.
  • The interface displayed will be as the one below. Select the device type as TCP/IP device or Autodetect to be on a safe side.
  • You shall then be required to put the IP address of the printer on the network. (This is the same as the port name)

Ensure that you tick the option “Query the printer an automatically select the driver to use”, this shall ensure that the process of selecting the printer’s drivers shall be automatically done by the computer itself. After this, click next.

  • On the next interface, the computer shall be searching and detecting the TCP/IP port of the printer which you input and after which, your printer shall be displayed.
