Since 2016, Wim Vanhelleputte has been at the helm of MTN Uganda as Chief Executive Officer. To subscribe for one of these bundles, simply dial *150*10# or use the MyMTN App to get the most affordable daily data bundles in Uganda. However, a number of MTN subscribers have complained that this change doesn’t add up since their number 1 competitor, Airtel has extremely cheaper bundles. MTN however says that they created Freedom bundles for people who require bundles that don’t expire via *150*7#.

With effect today, these are the new daily data bundles. We have listed for you the new internet data bundle charges here.

  • For 250/- one will get 25MBs.
  • For 500/- one will get 65MBs.
  • For 1000/- one will get 165MBs.
  • For 2000/- one will get 365MBs.

These new offers focus on the smaller, most frequently used data bundles by MTN customers. The repackaged daily data bundles have more MBs but maintain the existing price, giving customers more data for the same old price. In a press conference held at the MTN Uganda headquarters in Kampala, Wim Vanhelleputte, the MTN Uganda Chief Executive officer, noted that the move is a continuous effort by MTN to deliver value for customers at the most affordable pricing and continue driving their customers’ progress through connectivity.

Over the years, MTN has proved to be the leading telecom in Uganda and has seen frequent success in adverts. The company has consistently recorded growth in profits in the past five years, riding mainly on data and mobile money services.  It recorded Shs96.3 billion in 2016; Shs 152.6billion in 2017; and Shs 219.5billion in 2018 as profit after tax.  The company also recorded Shs269.2billion in 2019 and Shs 321.6billion in 2020.
