    The Absa mobile banking app is an application that was designed by Absa bank to help its customers to conduct financial transactions remotely using mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets. This form of banking is an addition to the already existing internet banking. The bank enables its clients to access its services at any time in any place via the phone.

    What do you need?

    1. A smartphone with an active carrier/SIM CARD
    2. Mobile data
    3. An Absa account.

    Like any other mobile banking apps, Absa’s does not disappoint. With the mobile banking app, you can;

    • Check the account your balance
    • Transfer funds between your Absa account and mobile money
    • Buy airtime
    • Pay for bills
    • Get and view your Absa statements with recent transaction statements-all done from your phone.
    • Locate the nearest Absa branches or ATMs

    How to download and install the Absa Mobile Banking App

    To download the app;

    • Visit the App Store on your Apple device or Google Play on your Android device
    • Search for “Absa Uganda”
    • Click on the icon to start the download
    • Log in, using your existing Absa Internet Banking information, which you will receive once your register for online banking.

    Enjoy Online banking

    Signing up for online banking is a very easy process. All you need to do is visit the nearest Absa Uganda branch to get started. However, the bank also has an online/website application process. This website version of registration only requires you to have a national ID or passport whose numbers are very crucial during the process.

    Here is how to register for an Absa account online

    1. Visit the online registration page on the Absa page
    2. Choose your ID type (National ID/Passport)
    3. Enter your ID number
    4. Type in your date of birth
    5. Choose whether to use the account number or credit card details
    6. The next step will require you to input your account number or the last 6 digits of your card details
    7. Acknowledge receipt of the customer agreement and continue to STEP 2
    8. Secure code on STEP 2 using your active phone number and proceed to STEP 3
    9. STEP 3 will ask to create a Username and Password, after which you will continue to STEP 4
    10. Go to STEP 4 and fill in the secret question and answers for security protection.
    11. You just registered for the Absa online banking.

    Features of the Absa Mobile Banking App

    The benefits of using the application are entangled within its features. Some of which are;

    1. A clear overview of all your accounts.
    2. Filtered transaction history according to your needs.
    3. Seamless transfers between your accounts.
    4. Buying airtime and paying bills from where you are.
    5. Sending money to a mobile wallet account.
    6. Gaining control over your account activity.

    One of the most important features of the Absa mobile banking App is buying airtime using the app. To do that, you will need a smartphone again or tablet plus a recipient number.

    How to buy airtime using the Absa Mobile App

    1. Login into the Absa Mobile App
    2. You select Buy Airtime
    3. Choose whether the airtime is for you or another number
    4. Enter the phone number and choose the network operator
    5. Select whether you want to save the recipient as a beneficiary and enter their name
    6. Enter the OTP, verify the transaction and boom you are done.

    • The App is unstable and crushes
    • Limitations in bill payments
    • Limited network operators supported.
    • iOS users need to have an iPhone 5S and above (supports iOS 10 and later). Not sure whether it is a con though.

    • Access the app by fingerprint login.
    • Pay Umeme and water bills, TV subscription and purchase airtime and data bundles.
    • Make credit card payments.
    • Make payments to URA.
    • Transfer funds between Absa accounts.
    • Transfer funds to any Airtel/MTN mobile number.
    • Perform RTGS, EFTs and international transfers.
    • View your account balances.
    • View your Absa statements and recent transactions.
    • Locate the nearest Absa branch or ATM.
    • Make credit card payments.
    • Access your account 24/7, from anywhere in the world.

    On the scorecard, the Absa mobile banking app rates a 3.5/5 based on its improvements, pros/cons, and user experience.
