According to MTN, the maker of the app “myMTN App is an all in one self-care app that gives you full control in managing your phone account, monitor your usage pattern, manage your data usages and subscribe to products and services from your mobile device, all on-the-go. With myMTN App, Everything is now a touch away.”
In brief, everything you could have ever wanted to do with your MTN line via USSD code could possibly be done via the app and you don’t have to waste your time looking for shortcodes.
Download MyMTN APP
To download myMTN app, head over to play store or apple store, and type My MTN app then download and install the app on your phone. You can download the app on google play store here or on apple store here.
Open the app and you’ll be required to enter your phone number for verification before you can access your account. Enter your MTN phone number.
Then press verify, MTN will send you a one time pin as an SMS notification. Enter the pin in the app for verification that the number belongs to you.
Once all this is complete and done, you’ll be logged in and you can now do a lot of other things like view summary of airtime, data, points, and minutes but also check balances, buy ott, airtime & many other things.
Note: MyMTN app doesn’t require the internet bundles to work, as you may have guessed it’s all MTN.

- On the home page of MyMTN app, check the Data card and you can view your data balance.
- Tap data balance to view more detailed information about your data usage for the last given days.

How to buy airtime
- At the bottom bar menu, Tap Buy
- The select airtime
- Select Buy for me or someone else according to your needs
- Choose the payment method of your choice
- Enter amount & tap continue
- You’ll be required to enter a pin for mobile money authentication and done.
How to buy minutes
- At the bottom bar menu, Tap Buy
- Then select minutes
- Select minutes offer of your choice
- Select package of minutes
- Then proceed to payout via airtime or mobile money
How to buy data via MyMTN app
- Open the MyMTN app
- At the bottom bar menu, Tap Buy
- Select data option of your choice
- Then select the data bundle of your choice and go ahead to pay out via any convenient payment method of your choice.

How to send Airtime (Me2U) to another MTN phone number with MyMTN app
- Go to your MyMTN app and tap send icon at the bottom menu
- Tap Airtime option available
- Enter the phone number you want to send MTN airtime
- Enter amount ( the minimum amount you can send is 1/= up to UGX 200,000)
- The tap continue to payout
- Confirm payment by clicking confirm button to send airtime to another MTN phone number
