If you are accustomed to Developer options on your Android phone or perhaps your Android Auto, then most probably you can consider enabling Developer options on your Android TV as well. Just like on your Android phone, this tool is hidden away in the Settings menu but it surely serves the user with countless useful functionalities such as USB debugging or even tinkering with features such as device GPU rendering or background process throttling. As the name suggests, Developer options are mostly built for developers and all users who find a need for the Developer options menu. This guide will show you how to enable Developer Options on your Android TV.
Step 1: Set up your Android TV device:
To set up Developer options you need to have an active internet connection and must sign in to your Google account. Therefore before you proceed, connect the Android TV device to the local network and sign in to your Google account.
Step 2: Open Device Settings
Press the home button on your remote for the home page to display. Navigate to the Settings app on your home screen.
Step 3: Device Preference
Under Android TV’s general settings, click on Device Preference. Then on the next page, select “About.”
Step 4: Click on Build
Scroll down to and click on Build several times (notifications will pop up showing you that you are only a few steps to stepping up developer options). Proceed with clicking on the “Build” option until a dialog appears with the message, “You are now a developer.”
Go back to the Device Preference menu, and the “Developer Options” will be listed. Now navigate back to the home screen.
Quick Note: If you want to disable Developer options on your Android TV, you will have to reset the device to factory settings.
