A screen saver is an animation or image which replaces an unchanging computer display after a period of inactivity. This feature protects the TV from screen burn. So if your TV is turned on and you fail to operate it for a certain length of time, the screensaver will be activated. Luckily, the screen saver won’t activate while you watch TV programs or videos. Although it is impossible to set or change the screensaver images on your Android TV, you will slowly like the images displayed. By default, the Screen saver will be activated on your screen. However, you can choose to turn off screen saver on your Android TV if you wish. Here is how;

Step to Turn off Screensaver on your Android TV

1. Press the home button on your remote to load the home page.

2. Now navigate to the Settings app on your Android TV.

3. Scroll down and click on Device Preference under General Settings.

4. Under Device Preferences, click on Screen Saver.

5. On the next click on Screen Saver.

6. Select Turn off Screen Saver.

Quick Note: If you disable the Screen saver on your Android TV, the will be set to Idle TV standby whereby the TV powers off after a certain length of time. This will be activated when there’s no remote control or TV operations, even if you’re watching a TV program or playing videos.

The Screen Saver Keeps on Reappering even when Turned Off

If the screen saver keeps reappearing even after you have turned it off, check the troubleshooting steps below;

Make sure the When to Sleep is set to Never.

  1. Using the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
  2. On the HOME screen, select Settings.
  3. Under the Settings menu, Device Preferences.
  4. Next, select Screen Saver.
  5. Under  Put Device to Sleep, select “Never.”

Make sure the Developer Options are activated.

  1. Using the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
  2. On the HOME screen, select Settings.
  3. Click on Device Preference.
  4. Under the Device Preference, select About.
  5. Under the About category, select Build.
  6. Once Build is selected, press the enter button seven times.

Quick Note: Congratulations you are now a developer will appear after the enter button is pressed.

Make sure the Stay Awake function is set to On.

  1. Using the supplied remote control, press the HOME button.
  2. On the HOME screen, select Settings.
  3. Under the Settings menu, select Device Preferences.
  4. Under Device Preferences, select Developer Options.
  5. Select Stay Awake.
  6. Select On.
