Verifying YouTube channels

Before you think of getting countless subscribers and hours of view every new YouTuber is focusing on more these days, you need to first verify your YouTube channel to unlock more amazing YouTube features. You need to know; you neither can upload a video longer than 15 minutes nor add a custom video thumbnail while uploading a video to your channel.

How to verify a YouTube channel

  • Go to YouTube.com, and scroll down to find settings.
  • Go to “Your Account” and click “View additional features”
  • Click verify
  • Select your country of residence and choose whether you want to get your verification code through an SMS text or through phone call.
  • Whichever verification method you prefer using, confirm and submit in your phone number to receive the verification code.
  • When you receive the six-digit verification code, enter it in the text box and hit “Submit.”

How to change the channel name

Your YouTube channel name is the name on your Google Account. To change your channel name, you’ll need to change the name on your Google Account: All these steps are legible for mobile users, but you should note that most of the features, such as changing channel icon have all been shifted to the computer.

  • Tap your profile picture.
  • Select Your Channel.
  • In the right-hand corner of your channel page, select Settings.
  • On the right, tap Edit.
  • Update your channel name and click OK.

A big Note

  • You can only change your channel name three times every 90 days.
  • Changing your name on your Google Account changes your entire Google name such as Gmail
  • The new name takes a few days to be updated and displayed on YouTube.

How to change YouTube channel description

  • Your channel description appears on the ‘About’ tab of your channel page.
  • Tap your profile picture.
  • Select Your Channel.
  • In the right-hand corner of your channel page, tap Settings.
  • On the right, tap Edit.
  • Enter your updated description and tap OK.

How to disable comments on a YouTube video

  • Go to youtube.com, you’ll automatically log into your channel
  • Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen.
  • Select “YouTube Studio (beta).”
  • In the left sidebar, select “Videos.”
  • Click on the name or thumbnail of the video you want to disable comments for.
  • Un-tick the “Allow comments” box to completely disable comments for that video
  • In the top-right corner, click “Save.”

How to see your YouTube subscribers on desktop

  • Log into your YouTube account
  • Click on your profile photo
  • Tap on “Your channel” option.
  • The total count of your subscribers is that digit besides your channel name

You can also see a list of your most recent subscribers, including their names and profiles, however, this feature is only present for YouTube Web, or when you access your YouTube account using a computer. Note that only the 100 most recent subscribers will be displayed and that only subscribers who have chosen to have their profile remain public will be visible.
