1. Tennis- Australian Open

The Australian Open 2023 is the first Grand Slam tennis tournament this year. The event will take place from 16th to 29th January 2023. The Tennis event will be held in Melbourne, Australia. It is the 111th edition of the biggest annual Australian tennis. Many are hoping that the tournament will not have many controversies; this is after the eventful tournament that saw Novak Djokovic denied an entry visa, locking him out of the event. 2. Handball, World Championships 

Between January 12th and 29th, Poland and Sweden will be hosting the 28th edition of the International Handball Federation. The 2023 World Men’s Handball Championship will take place in nine cities; Krakow, Gdansk, Katowice, and Plock in Poland. Stockholm, Jonkoping, Kristianstad, Gothenburg in Sweden. The opening match will be in Katowice, while the finals will be in Stockholm.

Denmark will be defending its title, having won the cup twice, in 2019 and 2021. The participating teams are divided into eight groups, with the Spain, Montenegro, Chile, and Iran starting the pack in group one. The group of death is D, consisting of Iceland, Portugal, Hungary, and South Korea. Denmark, the defending champion, is grouped with Belgium, Bahrain, and Tunisia in Group H.

3. Field hockey World Cup

Between January 13-29, India will be hosting the Men’s Hockey World cup in the cities of Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. The quadrennial world cup tournament will be the 15th edition. There are five pools, each consisting of four countries. 

  • Pool A has Australia, Argentina, France, and South Korea
  • Pool B has Belgium, Germany, Korea, and Japan
  • Pool C consists of the Netherlands, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Chile
  • Pool D has India, England, Spain, and Wales.

4. Cricket World Cup in India

The 2023 Cricket World Cup will be hosted by India towards the end of 2023. The tournament was originally planned for February 2023 but was delayed to October following the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Like other previous cricket world cup tournaments, the October event will feature ten teams, including the host India, Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and England, among others.

5. Football America Super Bowl Glendale, Arizona

10. UEFA Champions League

Between June 16th and July 16th, Asian content will be having one of the major football events. The Asian Cup will be held in either China or South Korea

12. The NBA Finals

13. Tour de France

14. World Aquatics Championships

15. FIBA World Cup

Indonesia, the Philippines, and Japan will host the 2023 Men’s FIBA Basketball World cup between August 25th and September 10th.

16. The Rugby World Cup 2023 France
