How to Load Gmail’s Basic HTML view for slower connections

We all get nagged when the internet is slow especially when we are trying to log into our Gmail accounts. Fortunately, there is a solution to the slow connection. All you need is to switch from Gmail’s complex, full-featured Standard HTML view mode to the simpler Basic HTML. In this article, I will show you how to load Gmail’s Basic HTML view for slower connections.

Method 1: Turn on Gmail’s Basic HTML view from the Sign-in Page

  • Launch the browser.
  • Search the Google Gmail Sign In page and sign in.
  • Trace the link for “Load Basic HTML (for slow connections)” at the bottom right corner of the Gmail Loading page. This is the page that appears before the account screen featuring the Gmail envelope and a red loading bar with the words “Loading Gmail”.
  • Tap the link to switch from the default Standard HTML view to the Basic HTML view.

Method 2: Turn on Gmail’s Basic HTML view from Gmail Account

  • If you have already signed in your Gmail account and now the connection is slow, this is what you are supposed to do.
  • Tap on the browser’s “Reload” button while in your Gmail account to make the “Loading Gmail” page appear.
  • Then trace the “Load Basic HTML (for slow connections)” link in the bottom right corner of the page.
  • Tap the link to switch to the Basic HTML view from the Standard HTML view.

NOTE: Tap on the “Set Basic HTML as Default View” at the top of the Gmail account to set the Basic HTML to default. (This is only possible when you are already using the Basic HTML view.)

Tap the “Standard” link at the bottom right corner of the Gmail account screen to reverse your account Basic HTML from to Standard HTML view.
