There are over 2 billion WhatsApp users in the world — businessofapps.

WhatsApp is a free-to-use video calling and messaging app used by individuals to keep in touch with friends and family.

Have you ever been in that situation where you are WhatsApp texting someone but you do not have the words to type yet? You are still thinking of the words to type. The recipient is eagerly waiting to receive a text from you since they see that you are typing something. The tension tends to build up at times.

It has happened to me a couple of times. One time, the person waiting to receive the text sent me a text asking if I was typing an essay as I was still putting together what I was typing. How do you go around that issue then? By typing your reply from somewhere else outside WhatsApp. Here is how:

Using the Notifications Panel to Type the WhatsApp text

This is where you quickly access shortcuts, notifications, and alerts. The notification panel is located at the top of your device’s screen. It is not usually seen. You can access it by swiping your finger from the top of the screen to the bottom.

All the WhatsApp messages you receive will appear in the notifications panel. In case they do not, it might be because your phone might be in Do Not Disturb mode or you might have disabled notifications. You can turn off DND and enable notifications to start receiving them.

Anyways, when you receive a new WhatsApp message when you are not using the app, you will see it in the notification panel. You will see the option of REPLY on the bottom left of the message and MARK AS READ on the right.

Tap on REPLY and type your long message for as long as you wish, then send. The recipient will see your reply popping up abruptly without them seeing you typing throughout the time it took you to draft it.

It is important to note that the feature of replying to WhatsApp text messages in the notification panel is not supported in older Android versions.

Conclusion

There are those people that are not so easy to text with. You have to think long about what to type. Then there are those texts you receive that you just do not know what to reply to that quickly. Using the above method solves those issues. I regularly use it to reply to some WhatsApp texts I receive.
